Shiitake – The Emperor’s Mushroom is a mushroom native to Japan. It is often seen as just…food, being very popular in Asian cuisine. What is less known is the fact that, in certain phases of growth, they synthesize some very bitter substances, called beta-glucans, with special physiological effects. And studies in recent decades have demonstrated that these beta-glucans, from Shiitake, could activate and modulate the action of immunity in proliferative conditions1 . They are also being researched in relation to keeping cells that have undergone mutations under control2 . It also acts on pathogenic bacteria3 that endanger health .
