Chaga – Siberian mushroom is a very atypical mushroom. It resists extremes of temperature, grows very slowly and almost exclusively on the trunks of birch trees. Traditionally1, this mushroom has been used and documented as a common remedy for stomach ailments since the 16th century. And in medicine, it began to attract attention after it was mentioned by a Nobel Prize-winning Russian physician in the book ‘Cancer Ward’.
It was only a short step from here to the investigation of Chaga – Siberian Fungus in relation to the proliferation2 of malignant cells and its mechanisms influencing immunity3. Research has been carried out mainly in colorectal, lung8 and liver tissues.
What’s more, Chaga is said to have an amazing ability to manage inflammatory processes4, superior to ginger and other medicinal mushrooms. According to some studies, this fungus has potential in relation to HCV5and HIV6 viruses, and is one of the few7 natural derivatives with such effects.
