It resists extremes of temperature, grows very slowly and almost exclusively on the trunks of birch trees. ^{Traditionally1}, this mushroom has been used and documented as a common remedy for stomach ailments since the 16th century. And in medicine, it began to attract attention after it was mentioned by a Nobel Prize-winning Russian physician in the book ‘Cancer Ward’.

It was only a short step from here to the investigation of Chaga – Siberian Fungus in relation to the ^{proliferation2} of malignant cells and its mechanisms influencing ^immunity3. Research has been carried out mainly in colorectal, ^lung8 and liver tissues.

What’s more, Chaga is said to have an amazing ability to manage inflammatory ^processes4, superior to ginger and other medicinal mushrooms. According to some studies, this fungus has potential in relation to ^HCV5and ^HIV6 viruses, and is one of the ^few7 natural derivatives with such effects.
